Die Lösungen unterstützen Versorgungsunternehmen dabei, den Wert ihrer Komponenten für intelligente Stromnetze zu optimieren. Zugleich ermöglichen sie die Entwicklung hin zu einer umfassenden Smart Grid-Struktur, die die Fortschritte in der IT, Kommunikations- und Energietechnologie nutzt, um die Energieversorgung weiter zu verbessern, sowie es den Stromkunden erleichtert, auf umweltfreundlichen Verbrauch zu achten.
Germans in fourth position in terms of online shopping in Europe
Not only do Germans love shopping, but they also make more and more use of the internet for shopping instead of going to traditional shops. 42 % of Germans used the internet for shopping last year with the EU average being 24 %. Product ranges offered on the internet are broader than those of any department store and internet shops are open around the clock. Furthermore, it is possible to compare prices easily. In addition there are consumer-friendly laws in Germany with regard to returning goods ordered online.
Number of gainfully employed people fell below 40 million in Germany
The economic crisis is more and more affecting the labour market. According to provisional figures provided by the Federal Statistical Office, in the first quarter 2009 the number of gainfully employed people fell to 39.9 million for the first time in nine months. Only in comparison with the first quarter in 2008 there was slight increase by 48,000 people (+0.1 %). However, without many employees working short-time in Germany the employment figure would have decreased even further.

… beklagen sich, dass es in Deutschland keine soziale Gerechtigkeit gäbe. Vor einem Jahr waren noch 71 Prozent der Deutschen dieser Meinung. Experten wundern sich über das Ergebnis, da die Kluft zwischen Arm und Reich seit 1945 noch nie so groß wie heute war.

Number of job vacancies down significantly
The IAB institute registered a drop in the number of job vacancies to 870,000 in the first quarter 2009. This is 221,000 less than in the fourth quarter 2008 and 273,000 vacancies less than one year ago. This drop in the first quarter 2009 almost exclusively affected the west of Germany due to this region’s greater dependence on exports.
Half of all Germans are concerned about social market economy
Twice a year the Emnid opinion poll institute interviews 1000 Germans on their expectations of the future on behalf of ARAG . The most recent survey was marked by pessimistic answers which reflect respondents´ fear of the economic crisis. Against the background of the 60th anniversary of the Basic Law, Germans were also asked on the future of the German economic system. The result: 55.2 % of interviewees think that the social market economy is at risk as a consequence of the financial crisis.
